Deduction...guessing...whatever.

Some people get paid to spout off about important things. I guess sometimes they're busy with book deals or something, because even blowhards that do this for prestigious institutions like the Washington Post sometimes seem to be just flinging horsecrap all over the place and calling it Hannukah gelt.

Here is a particularly shrill example.

Beg for it, Winston.

You can't sock a senator in the face, but you can do this.

Well, you can sock a senator, but jail blows.

Equal Rights for Women (to suck)

I think my Israeli female soldier fetish might be over. Here's an passage from an article on what it's like to be a woman occupier:

Most disturbing, perhaps, is their common explanation for the violence the inflict: The soldiers' daily routine in the Occupied Territories "is boring, so we'd create some action. We'd get on the radio, and say they threw stones at us, then someone would be arrested, they'd start investigating him... There was a policewoman, she was bored, so okay, she said they threw stones at her. They asked her who threw them. 'I don't know, two in grey shirts, I didn't manage to see them.' They catch two guys with grey shirts... beat them. Is it them? 'No, I don't think so.' Okay, a whole incident, people get beaten up. Nothing happened that day."

Oy. My putz is faklempt.

Good Morning, Winston.

Well, this is a bit awkward. The Panda has been out of the loop for a while. He crawled into a monastery in the valley of his mind and has been peeling potatoes there for quite some time. He knows not why, but he has emerged. Perhaps it is because Groundhogs Day is his favorite holiday and the audacity of those little animals to hope has inspired him.

So how's he doing anyway?

Enh. Could be fatter. Could be balder.

Has anything happened while he was gone? Let's check in.

Iraq.?
Well...

Afghanistan?
Oh dear.

Division between poor and rich?
What the...?!

Civil liberties?
Ummm...

Climate change?
Sigh.

Iran?
Oh my.

North Korea?
Nope.

Partisanship?
Ew.

Guantanamo?
Oh, come on!

I think we'll stop there.

At least that Palin broad is gone, right?

Right?

Good morning, Winston.

This op-ed piece is rational and interesting, if not fairly sleepy.

It contains this sentence which seems to sum up what Obama is trying to do:

The consensus was grounded in [a] ... concept of moral duty, supplemented by prudential considerations.

Hunh.

And it's written by a fabulously wealthy Republican hedge fund guy. Which means he's a rather unique buffalo in that herd, or a hypocrite. You decide.

Good morning, Winston.

I can't tell if this is satire, but I'm afraid it isn't.
